To Be a Women

Is it only how beautiful you look?
Is it only how much money you have?
Is it the power and position you enjoy?
No! It is much more than all these.
It is the heart, mind, body, and spirit working together in harmony with all that exists.
It is all this and much more, to be a woman.

“Verily, the Muslims men and women, the believers men and women, the men and the women who are obedient to Allah, the men and women who are truthful in their speech and deeds, the men and the women who are patient, the men and the women who are humble, the men and the women who give zakat and charity, the men and the women who fast, the men and the women who guard their chastity and the men and the women who remember Allah much with their hearts and tongues Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a generous reward."
(Al-Ahzab 30,35)

The Holy Qur'an gives women guidance as to their station in life. Allah finds them equal to man in deeds and sin, reward and punishment. Each will find an individual nitch in their lives to express, but a woman should above all, be servant to Allah's will, and seek peace within her own existence of purpose guided by the will of Allah.

What we so often forget is that God has honoured women by giving them value in relation to God—not in relation to men. But as Western feminism erases God from the scene, there is no standard left but men. As a result, the Western feminist is forced to find her value in relation to a man. And in so doing, she has accepted a faulty assumption. She has accepted that man is the standard, and thus a woman can never be a full human being until she becomes just like a man—the standard.

When a man cut his hair short, she wanted to cut her hair short. When a man joined the army, she wanted to join the army, and so on. She wanted these things for no other reason than because the “standard” had it.

What she didn’t recognize was that God dignifies both men and women in their distinctiveness, not their sameness.

All women have their own beauties regardless whether they are black, brown, or white. The fact is that beauty will wear off as the time passes by. Money and status is practically having no value in describing a woman. But Islam teaches us faith is the most important thing to judge a woman. It is very clear that a woman with a strong faith (regardless whether she is Muslim, Christian, or any other religion and follow their religion closely)is indeed a loyal and chaste woman. That is the quality in woman which man looking for.
